I have always invested in my skincare regime but never stopped to consider the make-up that I apply on top. Layering cheap beauty products was counterproductive - what is the point of a good base if it’s finished with products filled with nasty chemicals?
My daughter has very sensitive skin and always hesitated trying new products in case they were too harsh for her. She recently made the switch to a vegan lifestyle and I began to search for suitable products for her. I was invited to a Tropic event promoting the brand’s all-natural skincare and make-up range. Susie Ma, the founder and CEO of Tropic, was born in China where she lived with her grandmother, who studied homeopathic remedies for over 60 years whilst working as a medicinal chemist. The belief that "natural was always better" was instilled in her from an early age and inspires Susie’s belief in natural skincare. Moving to Australia at age 6, unearthed her passion to protect the natural environment, with the Great Barrier Reef on her doorstep as well as the abundance of lush, tropical plants such as eucalyptus and aloe vera. Since beginning to sell her natural skincare at market stalls Susie encountered immediate success. Appearing on the Apprentice in 2011, she became the first ever runner up candidate to receive an investment from Lord Sugar allowing the company to be taken to new heights, driving a huge change in the beauty industry.
